BCG and WWF collaborated on a sustainability-focused supply chain innovation venture: OpenSC. The core challenge was to enhance transparency within global supply chains. The solution was a complete ecosystem that combined AI, IoT and Blockchain solutions with a consumer facing marketing app.
The OpenSC venture addresses the critical problem of opaque supply chains, which often obscure unethical or unsustainable practices in the production of everyday goods. We aimed to empower consumers to make informed choices and drive demand for responsibly produced items.
A key aspect of the solution involves verifying claims about sustainable and ethical production using data science and machine learning, a process in which we collaborated closely with data scientists. We also combined IoT tools across the supply chain with Blockchain to ensure integrity of the custody chain. My role involved leading the research, service design, and conceptualisation of the diverse tools used throughout the supply chain journey, in close collaboration with engineers and business stakeholders.
The solution, OpenSC, is a platform designed to provide transparency by connecting consumers, producers, retailers, and sustainability activists. It enables customers to track a product's origin and journey, accessing verified information about its sustainable and ethical production.
OpenSC has achieved significant impact. Notably, the venture raised US$4 million in seed funding to further develop its digital platform. It is being used to increase visibility and transparency in the supply chains of major companies like Nestlé.

We conducted research with leading global providers to develop a service blueprint. This blueprint mapped the orchestrated technology, processes, and organizational touchpoints across the supply chain. I led the research, service design, and conceptualization of the diverse tools employed throughout this process.
To create a platform that fundamentally changes production and consumption, we developed MVP experiences across different use cases. This involved creating tailored tools for producers, retailers, and consumers.
We developed an app to record the chain of custody on a blockchain across the supply chain as part of the internal tools for the MVP.
